Johor State Champ, Muhamad Zawawi Husin, once again dominated the Men’s 80kg & Above Category in the Ledang Open Armwrestling Tournament in conjunction with the Kembara Mahkota Johor 2010 Tour, after defeating fellow Johorean, Mohd Nurashiden, in two straight matches, while his brother, Azmi Husin, took home the Men’s below 80kg Category title.

It was a special victory indeed for Zawawi as the final match was witnessed by The King of Johor, DYMM Tuanku Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar and his two sons, the DYAM Tunku Mahkota (Crown Prince) of Johor, Tunku Ismail Idris ibni Sultan Ibrahim Ismail and Tunku Abdul Rahman ibni Sultan Ibrahim Ismail and the king’s entire Kembara Mahkota entourage.

And if that wasn’t enough, the King then proceeded to try his hand in armwrestling, challenging his younger son, Tunku Abdul Rahman, to a Royal test of strength on the table. Needless to say, the King won albeit a bit of struggle with the young prince. Vid of the historical match here:

The Ledang Armwrestling Open was organized by the Johor Armsport Association (JAA) with the officiating of the Ledang Community College by the King in conjunction with the Kembara Mahkota 2010.

Qualifying & preliminary rounds were held the day before and was opened to the public. Winners of each category stand to receive a medal and RM 300 in prize money.

The Malaysian Armwrestling Association (MAA) in collaboration with Asahi Breweries Ltd. (Japan) recently organized an armwrestling tournament at The Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur, on the 24^th of July.

Shoppers and mall-goers were invited to take part in the tournament but, sadly, only a handful of brave souls took up the challenge. A pity indeed, as the winner of the tournament stand to receive a round trip ticket (4 days/3 Nights) to Japan and a bunch of other cool prizes sponsored by Asahi.

All in all, it was an entertaining event as crowds gathered to watch the contestants battle it out for first place.

In the end, Robert from Singapore was declared the champion after defeating local boy Dennis in the finals.

MPSJ-NST Carnival: Armwrestling Tournament 2010

In conjunction with The MPSJ-NST Carnival & 10km Run 2010, The Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) will be organizing an armwrestling tournament on Sunday, 13 June 2010, at the MPSJ Sports Complex in USJ 5.

This event will also be jointly organized by the Selangor Armsport Association (PSLNS). The following are the details for the event:
